SIA Calls for DHS Reopening

Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown enters Day 35 and ties the record for the second-longest shutdown in history. This is not a record Congress should be proud of achieving.

The Secure Immigration Alliance urges Congress to reopen and fully fund DHS without further delay.

The prolonged shutdown risks disrupting key security operations and places added strain on frontline personnel, including those at the Coast Guard, Transportation Security Administration, and immigration agencies. Maintaining continuity at DHS is important to preventing attacks on our homeland and disrupting criminal activity like human trafficking and drug smuggling.

We call on leaders in both parties to reach a swift, bipartisan agreement to restore DHS operations.
